To get an Instagram transcript, save the Reel to your device first, then upload the video or audio file here. The spoken words come back as plain text, and you can download the result as TXT, SRT, or VTT. Pasting an Instagram link does not work — Instagram blocks third-party access to its video.

Once the text is on screen you can download it in three formats. Each one is for a different job, and picking the wrong one is the most common reason people end up retyping everything.
.txt — plain textJust the words. Best for notes, quoting, and pasting into another tool.
.srt — subtitlesThe subtitle format most video editors and players accept.
.vtt — web captionsThe format browsers expect for HTML5 video captions.
The full comparison of the three, and when each one is the right pick, is in Transcript vs Caption File: SRT, VTT and TXT Explained.
There is no step where you paste a link, and that is deliberate. If you already tried a link-paste tool and it failed, here are the four things that actually happen when a server tries to fetch an Instagram URL.
Instagram returns a cross-origin-resource-policy: same-origin header, so a browser-side fetch is rejected before it reaches the media. Server-side attempts do no better: an unauthenticated request to the page gets a login interstitial, the oEmbed endpoint wants an OAuth token, and the GraphQL endpoint returns HTTP 400. That is why the only honest workflow is save-then-upload.
We do not route around it with an unofficial download service. What that looks like when tools do try it is worth reading before you trust one that promises one-click link transcription.
Your file leaves your browser. It is sent to this Cloudflare Worker and Cloudflare Workers AI for transcription. There is no database and no storage bucket holding it. The transcript exists only in your browser tab — close the tab and it is gone. We do not set cookies or run analytics.

One engine: @cf/openai/whisper on Cloudflare Workers AI. It is real speech-to-text — the model listens to the audio, so it works even when the original Reel had no captions at all. The page reports the model used with every completed transcript.

Transcribe the file first, then use the TXT, SRT, or VTT buttons above the result. The download happens in your browser. Format details are in Transcript vs Caption File.
No, and not because we have not built it. Instagram blocks third-party access to its video content, so a pasted link cannot be resolved. The four failure paths are documented here.
Yes — it is sent to Cloudflare Workers AI to be transcribed, then not stored. Full data path here.
@cf/openai/whisper on Cloudflare Workers AI. Why we name the model when most tools do not.
It depends on the file, so we publish measured ranges rather than a slogan. Measured timings are here.
Usually the file has no audible speech, or the audio track did not survive a screen recording. Run through this checklist.
No. Nothing here asks for credentials. Why we designed it that way.
